Chennai: Twenty-three-year-old Smalin Jenita signals victory after battling a grueling ordeal.
In what could be a new twist to the incident, a Pakistani pathologist Sardar Inamullah, who rescued Smalin, confirms that her husband and in-laws had tried to push her out of a moving car.
“Smalin was brought to our hospital on July 31 and she was critical. In sometime we figured out something was wrong. Her husband abandoned her in the hospital. The way Smalin started talking two weeks ago in the US (before that she could not talk)- the accident did happen. According to Smalin they were trying to push her out of the car, the husband lost control and the car rolled over everyone was injured but not as serious as Smalin Jenita,” says Inamullah.
Seven months pregnant with 52 fractures, with 52 fractures, Smalin was in coma for more than three months. Her husband, Christy Daniu, an Infosys employee based there, abandoned her in a US hospital.
Smalin’s family alleged that she was harassed for not paying dowry.
“He is lying. My daughter told me that her husband, mother in law and sister in law had beaten her up at home, then took her in a car and threw her out of the moving car,” says Smalin’s father, A Sebastian.
Christy denies this, saying Smalin was injured in a car accident in which he and his sister and parents were hurt as well.
He claims that he had provided Smalin's contact numbers and address in India to the hospital as well.
But Samlin's parents say they got to know only when a Pakistani doctor treating her got suspicious, found out her contact details and called them. They are now filing a police case against Smalin's in-laws.
