A team of officials under the Directorate of Public Instructions will visit Tirurangadi in Malappuram, the proposed venue for the State School Kalotsav to be held in January.
The visit follows the controversy that has erupted over the decision to host the festival at Tirurangadi, with KSU and many teachers’ organisations complaining about the lack of facilities at the proposed town.
The team, including DDEs would visit the place and look into the facilities the venue possess including accommodation for thousands of participants who would turn up for the event, distance between the venues, transportation, proximity of essential services and so on. They will submit a report to the Education Minister P K Abdu Rabb this week itself. Though a section of Education Department officials agree that it is always better to stick to more ‘city’ venues considering the facilities, the Minister has responded that the venue has everything to host the festival.
