Slamming the judgement by a Raipur Additional District and Sessions Court, Ilina said, "I don't agree with the judgement at all. This is a scandalous situation. I am sad about the judgement given today."
"There is no proof in this case. We came for trial regularly but there is no truth in their claims. They finally went to the extent of claiming that Binayak Sen's wife wrote letters to the ISI, has links with al-Qaeda and is an international terrorist. If so then how am I scot free? I'll adopt whatever options the law offers against this," she said.
People's Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) National General Secretary Kavita Srivastava called that judgement "totally unacceptable".
"We are going to approach the High Court. The whole case is fabricated. The court has only given a summary of judgement. Binayak has been held guilty for sedition, UAPA and under CSPSA. We will have to go through the judgment and work out future strategy," said Kavita.
Additional District and Sessions Judge BP Verma held Dr Binayak Sen, Naxal ideologue Narayan Sanyal and Kolkata businessman Piyush Guha guilty under provisions of section 124 IPC (sedition), 120 B IPC (conspiracy) and Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act.
