Guwahati: After the traumatic blasts that took place in Assam, the number of political visits has increased in Guwahati. After another set of serial blasts that shook the nation, Prime Minster Manmohan Singh, Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Home Minister Shivraj Patil to provide the healing touch to terror struck Assam.

"We are not going soft on terror and there will be no compromises on terror," said PM.

It's a standard response to senior BJP leader LK Advani's accusations who was first off the block from the Capital after the blasts.

"The existing anti-terror laws are clearly inadequate to counter terrorism. POTA must be brought back. I have witnessed several blasts in the past but nothing like this," said Advani.

A steady stream of new arrivals of Parliament in Assam is also something this corner of the country rarely is witness to.

National leaders of political parties of all colours doing the rounds of hospitals, blast sites, their concern seem overflowing. Probably also what is at stake is the political distance and the voteban.

"I have come here with the message of unity and to help Assam heal its wounds," said CPM, MP Brinda Karat.

The Prime Minsiter, Brinda Karat and L K Advani were all in the city for a day.
