Two people die in drunken driving accident

New Delhi: Two people were killed in a car accident, on early Sunday morning in the Capital. The accident took place near India Gate and the Police have registered a case of drunken driving.

On early Sunday morning Sneha Kapoor and Anirudh Rawat were returning from a party at the Le Meridien Hotel with their friends Satyajit and Gaurav Singhal. Their speeding car hit a tree, and turned turtle, Sneha and Anirudh who were sitting in the backseat were flung out of the car and died on the spot.

Constable Ram Singh who found the car and victims said,"We saw that the car had turned over, and two people were lying unconscious underneath it. We got the car straightened with the help of a few people and a couple of police officers, and got the victims admitted in Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital."

Police say they had consumed alcohol, and they have registered a case of drunken driving. The two survivors, Satyajit and Gaurav, have been admitted to the Apollo and Bhardwaj Hospitals.

Gaurav's uncle, Subash Sehgal said, "Gaurav and his friends were coming home when the car lost control and they had the accident, he is stable and is under observation at the moment.''

This is the second case of drunken and rash driving in the capital in the last 10 days, on February 14, one person had died in a similar accident.
