New Delhi: Former Uttar Pradesh minister Raja Bhaiya on Tuesday pleaded innocence in the DSP murder case and said that he was a victim of political conspiracy. Speaking to CNN-IBN, the Kunda MLA said that he was being framed and that his aide Guddu Singh, who has been arrested, too was innocent.
"I am being framed. It's unfortunate that three murders were committed in a short span. But I can't be held responsible for every theft or murder that takes place in Kunda," he defiantly said. He added that Guddu Singh was in Lucknow at the time of the murder and that he was not involved.
Raja Bhaiya further said that the CBI probe into the incident will bring out the truth. "It's not Guddu Singh. Ajay Pal is the main accused. Guddu Singh is not involved," adding that DSP Zia-ul-Haq was killed in a crossfire.
Meanwhile, the Uttar Pradesh ADG, Law and Order, Arun Kumar on Tuesday virtually ruled out Raja Bhaiya's arrest. "We need to first establish who committed the crime before we look into the conspiracy angle. We are yet to find an eyewitness to the case," he said when asked whether Raja Bhaiya will be prosecuted.
The ADG added that the post-mortem report had revealed that the DSP was shot once and that the bullet had passed through his chest and was untraceable. He added that the murder weapon too was yet to be recovered.
Opposition leader Mayawati slammed the state government for its inaction.
"They have not taken action against Raja Bhaiya. There is no law and order in UP. President's rule is the only option. We will demand suspension of Question Hour in Parliament today."
