New Delhi: Last week the Delhi Police's crime branch busted the fake admission racket at the Delhi University (DU). The parents have now come forward to share how they were cheated by touts and how the university's complicated admission procedure leads unsuspecting students to such racketeers.
Delhi police arrested three people in the case. They allegedly got fake caste certificates made for students and got them admission.
A student was charged anywhere between two to five lakh rupees. The accused said they had got 40 students admitted to reputed colleges over the past two years.
The police say, there was more business this time because of the unusual cut-offs set by the colleges, some even touching 100 per cent.
The police have been questioning officials at the Delhi University along with the students and their parents who got these certificates made.
CNN-IBN managed to contact one of the parents whose son got admission at a DU college with the help of a fake caste certificate. One of the parents explained, "The person would hang around outside my son's tutorial in Malviya Nagar and ask for details like, how much percentage has he secured. He also said he had tie ups and contacts with reputed colleges and get them admission."
