New Delhi: A former Delhi University lab assistant who set herself on fire alleging sexual assault last week died on Monday morning. She was admitted to the LNJP hospital with 90 per cent burn injuries.
The lady had tried to immolate herself outside Delhi secretariat on September 30. She alleged that she was sexually harassed by the principal and an employee of the BR Ambedkar College.
While the police are yet to act against the college principal and the employee over the allegations, they had registered an attempt to suicide case against the woman even as her husband is a head constable in the Delhi Police.
According to her the alleged sexual assault took place almost three years ago. She claimed that she complained to other Delhi University officials but no action was taken. Instead she alleged that she was sacked in 2012 from the college.
Later the woman met and complained to Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit, Delhi university Vice-Chancellor, Delhi LG and even the National Commission for Women, but still no action was action.
