New Delhi: You may have the just the right percentage to make the cut off of your dream college, but the first step to getting admission is to fill the form right.
If you're applying to the Delhi University, there are three options available.
One, you can buy the prospectus of the colleges you want to apply to. These would have the admission form attached.
Two, you can pick up the centralised pre-admission forms. These forms are available at 16 information centers across the Delhi.
Or three, you can download the pre-admission forms from the Delhi University website.
The advantage of the pre-admission forms is that you don't waste money on the prospectus of colleges that have a higher cut off percentage than the figure at the bottom of your mark sheet.
But you need to be very careful while filling the centralised form, because remember they are checked by computer scanners.
Says a student Shivani Ahuja, "There are chances that your form will get rejected even before it reaches your dream college if you don't fill it properly."
There is a way to make sure that you fill the form correctly.
* Select the colleges and the courses you'd like to apply for by darkening the appropriate bubble in front of the college and course.
* Do check for the cut off percentages of the previous year before selecting the course.
* Don't overwrite and using the eraser often is a bad idea.
* The form should not be folded or crumpled.
* No extra marks should be made anywhere on the paper.
* The black marks on the margin should not be tampered with.
* You should only use blue or black pen.
* The pre-admission form has a carbonless copy attached to it.
* Remember to submit the form with this copy.
* This copy will be stamped and returned to you as acknowledgement of the receipt of the form.
And if you think there's been an overload of information, don't worry.
All these instructions will be available at the back of the form when it comes out on June 1.
And don't forget that St Stephens college and Jesus and Mary College do not accept centralised forms.
