New Delhi: A recent survey conducted by the Health Ministry has concluded that most of the street food we eat is unfit for consumption.
An occasional binge by the roadside may sound like a fun thing to do but if you thought that the roadside food is safe, Health Ministry will give you proof that it is not. A survey conducted by the ministry across 16 cities reveals that 90 per cent of the food sold at the streets is not fit for consumption.
Health Minister Anbumani Ramdoss is now planning to take stern action.
"I am going to write to the Railways minister personally about this. Any disease you name, from Diarrhea, Cholera to typhoid is caused by consumption of contaminated food. Awareness needs to be created about this," said health minister A Ramadoss.
The ministry is now also planning to work with state municipality staff to train them in cooking.

"If we are able to ensure cleanliness, we would be able to rid at least 80 per cent of the bacterial diseases," National Survey Coordinator Dr S K Gupta said.
