Mumbai: Election authorities on Monday said that they would probe reports that money was distributed during a procession organised by Samajwadi Party candidate from Mumbai North-West, Abus Asim Azmi, while filing his papers.
"We are checking veracity of the reports that Azmi supporters distributed money during the procession and if needed, will take action," an election official said.
"There is no need to verify, it hasn't happened at all," says Azmi.
Election officials had recently given notices to sitting Congress MP from Mumbai North, Govinda, for giving money to people outside his Juhu residence on Holi day
