New Delhi: Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde on Monday said efforts are being made to nab one of the India's most wanted terrorist and underworld don Dawood Ibrahim with the help from the United States. "Efforts are being made with the aid of US to nab Dawood," Shinde said.

Dawood is the prime accused in the 1993 Bombay serial bomb blasts case and is also allegedly involved in financing anti-India terror groups operating out of Pakistan.

The statement came a few days after, the Home Minister said Dawood was in Pakistan and the information was conveyed to Pakistan as well as the United States. Shinde said an Interpol red corner notice had already been issued against Dawood and the US has declared him as a global terrorist.

He had said India has asked Pakistan several times to hand him over to India. "We have information that he is in Pakistan. We have told this to (Pakistan) Interior Minister too. We want him. we do not know how long it will take but our intelligence agencies are working on it," he said.

Dawood, who heads a vast and multifaceted illegal business, emerged as India's most wanted terrorist after the 1993 Mumbai bombings, which he allegedly organised and financed, According to the US, Dawood maintains close links with terror outfit al-Qaeda.

The Home Minister had also said many terrorists were still coming from Pakistan and the recent arrest of Abdul Karim Tunda was another example how the neighbouring country gives shelter to terrorists.
