Mumbai: A Bollywood newcomer rarely gets to do what Punjabi actor Gavie Chahal got to do for his first Hindi movie 'Ek Tha Tiger' - punching Salman Khan over 25 times for a scene in the spy thriller. He is thankful to the star for helping him and being patient during the shoot.
"There was a fight scene in the movie where I had to punch him (Salman) in the ribs. I was hesitating but he really encouraged me and made me practice. There were at least 25 punches before the take. He was very helpful. He guided me about my future as well. I am so happy to work with him," Chahal told IANS.
He has earlier worked in Punjabi films and television serials, and feels 'Ek Tha Tiger' is an ideal project to make an entry into Bollywood.

Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif's stylish action-thriller 'Ek Tha Tiger' will be released on August 15, 2012.

Once called Bollywood's hottest couple, their fans are extremely excited to see Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif back together on screen. (All the pictures have been taken from the official Facebook page of Yash Raj Films)

Comedy film 'Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya' was their first film together. In 'Partner', Katrina was paired with Govinda and Salman with Lara Dutta.

Their highly publicised film 'Yuvvraaj' turned out to be a box office dud.

Soon after the release of 'Yuvvraaj', Katrina Kaif and Salman Khan parted ways.

Probably, Katrina had no intentions of being in Salman Khan's bad books. She did an item number in Salman's 'Bodyguard'. He was also seen grooving with Katrina in a song from the movie 'Tees Maar Khan'.

After their split, 'Ek Tha Tiger' is their first film together. Their on screen chemistry can actually do wonders for the film.

Promos of 'Ek Tha Tiger' are getting positive reviews. It is one of the most awaited films of the year.

Salman Khan will be seen in an action packed avatar in the film. He plays a spy in 'Ek Tha Tiger'.

As reported, Salman and Katrina shot for the film in 10 countries. The actors are busy dubbing for the film these days.

Like Salman Khan's 'Bodyguard', 'Ek Tha Tiger' will also be released around Eid. Do you think 'Ek Tha Tiger' will make it to the Rs 100 crore club?

Katrina Kaif plays a ballet dancer in the film. Her character is named Zoya.

It seems, 'Ek Tha Tiger' has helped Salman and Katrina in resolving their personal differences as well.

As reported, Salman Khan organised Katrina Kaif's birthday party at his place. To keep it a low key affair, he didn't invite anybody from the industry.

On her birthday, Katrina Kaif stepped out of her house and requested cameramen not to follow her. Though she has denied celebrating her birthday with Salman.

During a promotional do, Salman Khan said, "I think one can easily fall in love with Katrina definitely on screen and off screen. Even fans love her a lot."

'Ek Tha Tiger' has been produced by Aditya Chopra under the banner of Yash Raj Films.

It is Katrina's second film with director Kabir Khan. She played the female lead in his earlier film 'New York'.

Yash Raj Films is popular for making their leading ladies look really glamorous. They get full marks for 'Ek Tha Tiger' as well.

It seems, Katrina and Salman both worked hard on their physique for the film.

So watch out for Zoya and Tiger's love story this August.

Gavie Chahal
"I think I am lucky. I couldn't have had a better debut. I am with the No.1 director (Kabir Khan) and the No.1 cast (Salman and Katrina Kaif) of Bollywood. The combination is perfect for anyone," he added.
Chahal, who acted in Hindi TV serials 'Mohe Rang De' and 'Mrs. Kaushik Ki Paanch Bahuein', stressed the fact that he will be playing a 'very important character' in the film. He says that he has acted 'exactly as Kabir Khan told him to'.
"It was a great experience. Mr Kabir never made me feel inferior to anyone on the set. I was also treated as a star. There was never a time when I was not treated well. He treated everyone as an actor," he added.
A known face in Punjabi films and music, Chahal has acted in movies like 'Yaaran Naal Baharan' and 'Mehndi Wale Hath'. But Bollywood is his preference.
"It's obvious that I will give preference to Bollywood if I ever have an issue with dates. But I will never say no to Punjabi films or even television. First preference is Hindi cinema and then my television shows and Punjabi films," he said.
A mechanical engineer by profession, Chahal never thought he would enter the world of acting.
"My friends forced me to start modelling because of my height. Eventually, I did music videos and shifted to Mumbai when I started doing Hindi soaps," he said.
