New Delhi: Dacoit Thokia alias Ambika Prasad has been shot dead in an encounter with Special Task Force (STF) near Chitrakot on Monday.
He had several criminal charges against him and carried a reward of Rs 5 lakh on him.
Uttar Pradesh (UP) police sources told CNN-IBN that the encounter took place around 3 am in the morning after they got intimation.
The operation to eliminate Thokia was launched by UP police and STF after his gang member killed six STF jawans in Banda district.
Thokia had over 50 cases of murder, loot and kidnapping registered against him in both UP and Madhya Pradesh. Thokia succeeded dacoit Dadua who was gunned down in an encounter with the STF in June last year.
