12 hours and gunbattle in J-K ends

New Delhi: A 15-hour long encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Sopore town has come to an end.

However, two terrorist who were holed up inside a house have fled.

Security forces failed to catch them.

According to reports, Harkat Commander Basharat, who is wanted for killing CRPF jawans and 10 policemen, was one of the terrorists holed up in a house.

The militants lobbed grenades at the security forces at 3 a.m. setting a house on fire.

Meanwhile, several gunshots were also heard 2 kilometres away from the encounter site in Banger-pora.

More than a dozen incidents of infiltration and ceasefire violations have been reported in Kashmir since January 1.
