New Delhi: An engineer working with Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) was killed after being hit by a train while he was carrying out repair work between Shahdara and Seelampur stations on Thursday.

The incident took place around 1300 hours IST when the two engineers were repairing signal cables.

Both were rushed to the nearby GTB Hospital at Shahdara immediately where Indermohan Srivastava, 27, was declared brought dead while Purushottam Priyadarshi, 22, was admitted with a fracture in his right arm, a DMRC release said.

Senior Metro officials have rushed to the site of the accident and an inquiry has been ordered by DMRC in this connection.
