The long wait for the counselling schedule for admission to engineering colleges seems to be over with the government set to issue the notification on Monday.
The process of certificate verification will take place between August 27 and September 6 and students can exercise online options between August 30 and September 8. The procedure for seat allotment will be completed by September 12, Andhra Pradesh State Higher Education Council chairman Professor P. Jaya Prakash Rao said on Sunday. The classes will begin on September 17.
The government will set up 53 helpline centres to assist students in exercising their options. Changes can be made by students on September 9 and 10. The official announcement will be uploaded on the website www.apeamcet.org by Monday afternoon.
This year, an additional 30,730 seats have been added to the counselling process and the total number of seats available under the convenor quota is 2.4 lakh. The additional seats have been added under different streams, including 700 seats under electrical and communication engineering, 9,260 in mechanical stream, 8,730 seats in the computer science stream and 5,720 in civil engineering stream.
Meanwhile, of the 683 private engineering colleges in the state, only 480 have submitted their undertakings accepting the uniform fee structure of `35,000 per year. The fee for 60 engineering colleges which had applied for a higher fee structure has been fixed on an individual basis by the AFRC.
Though the AFRC recommendations to the state government have not been disclosed, official sources said that the fee for these 60 colleges range from Rs 50,000 per annum to Rs 1.10 lakh. The fee for the colleges which have neither sought a fee revision nor have submitted their undertakings with AFRC will be decided by the state government soon.
