Gurgaon: Police in Gurgaon have arrested four engineering students for stealing a car at gunpoint. They are not hardened criminals or serial offenders, but came out to help a friend in need. Surprisingly, all four are from good families.
One of the accused, Sandip says, "All my friends did this only for the sake of friendship."
Anti-Crime Cell Inspector, Naresh Kumar says, "It wasn't like they had financial pressures at home. They never lacked anything and had always led a pretty comfortable life. It's just that this time they needed money and couldn't ask for more from their families."
The foursome robbed a man off his Maruti Swift and ATM cards at gunpoint using an air pistol. It was Sandip who was in debt working as a part time agent for Tata AIG Insurance. He had taken a Rs 60,000 loan but couldn't repay it and that's when he approached his friends for help and the plan was hatched.
"We got scared when we were taking out the money and that's why we stole the car and ran," says Sandip.
It was their inexperience, which perhaps got them caught. The police have recovered all the stolen items and the money that was withdrawn from the victim's ATM.
