New Delhi: The Department of History at Delhi University witnessed history of a different kind on Monday, when students flung books at the Head of the Department.
Students from Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad ransacked the office of Professor S Zahir H Jafri Head of History Department, and damaged property at the Faculty of Arts.
They were protesting against the book 300 Ramayanas, which is a part of the ancient history study material. The ABVP students have demanded that the book be withdrawn, as it hurts the sentiments of a large section of students — an issue which the department has refused to consider till now.
