Ent Wrap: It's all about the movies, honey

It's all about movies in this latest edition of Entertainment Wrap — right from Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Cruise starrer Mad Money to Tom Cruise and Meryl Streep starrer Lions for Lambs. Also featured is Denzel Washington who plays the crime boss in Ridley Scott's American Gangster.

Mad Money preview

Guess what’s getting Diane Keaton, Queen Latifah and Katie Cruise to gang up together and commit the crime of their lives? Nope, it’s not a man, it’s the next best thing — money and that too millions of it, in the film Mad Money!

The three actors play Federal Reserve employees who plan to steal millions of dollars in old bills that are anyway about to be destroyed.

The trio hatches the plan when they realise that the system is keeping each of their dreams just out of reach and all that money they see daily is just going to be incinerated. Directed by Callie Khourie, Mad Money opens next year on the January 18.

American Gangster

Another film releasing real soon is American Gangster. It stars Oscar winning actors Russell Crowe and Denzel Washington.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the film tells the true story of Frank Lucas, a crime boss, played by Washington, who smuggled drugs into America by hiding it in the coffins of the dead soldiers returning from the Vietnam War.

Russell Crowe plays Richie Roberts, the detective who finally brought the drug kingpin down. The onscreen cat and mouse game notwithstanding, the two actors shared an easy chemistry on the sets

Denzel Washington says, “We don't have to push each other. Just knowing we're both professionals and we're going to do our jobs I don't think I need to push him. Obviously he's been doing pretty well when I wasn't around. You know that's not what it's about. It's about being prepared and ready to go."

American Gangster will be in American theatres this weekend

Lions for Lambs

Thursday night saw Tom Cruise, Meryl Streep and Robert Redford walking the red carpet for the Los Angeles premiere of their new drama Lions for Lambs.

Directed by Robert Redford, who also stars in the politically charged drama, the film examines how the current state of the media and politics affect a powerful senator, a veteran TV journalist and a California University professor. Lions for Lambs opens across the US on November 9.
