Everyone is united to unplug for the planet

New Delhi:The Worlds largest global movement to fight climate change is gathering momentum. At the Shriram school in Delhi- the next generation is already pledging to switch off for 60 minutes of Earth Hour.

The corporate sector known for its carbon emission is making pledges to cut its power consumption

“Wipro is supporting World Wildlife Fund Earth Hour. Wipro is spread around 29 countries with 100,000 people and on March 28th we will switch off all power, we will have no lighting, no AC, not even website,” says Wipro employee, Anurag Behar.

“ICICI has almost 1500 offices throughout India and on 28th March we are going to put off lights in all offices and we believe that we can make a small difference in the environment,” ICICI’s Chanda Kochar.

“RBI would be participating as responsible citizen and switch off the lights,” says RBI, deputy governor.

“We have got 26 theatres in 16 cities of India and 108 screens and annually we receive 20 million viewers in our cinema all across India. So naturally our energy consumption is huge, we will switch of all the extra lights in foyer area,” says Sidhartha of PVR cinemas.

Advaita' a band from Delhi at this concert cut their carbon emissions by using one tenth of the light they use normally.

Electricity generation alone contributes the largest to global warming - over 40 per cent. However, tiny cuts in power consumption can make a big difference. So remember, March 28 is the day when you can unplug to vote for Planet Earth. So, don't forget to switch off.
