Lviv: Germany midfielder Mesut Ozil has likened the national team to his club side, Real Madrid, voicing his belief that die Mannschaft are the team that everybody wants to beat. Joachim Low's men are the only side in the tournament to have taken six points so far, a fact that has not been missed by Ozil, who has insisted that he can play at an even higher level.
"It's true, that I can still play better," the Real Madrid midfielder was quoted as saying by Zeit Online.
"Because I know what is inside me. I still have not shown everything. Although I hit the post against Netherlands, I've had bad luck, but yes I will improve myself.
"I am also proud of the team. Others, such as England, Italy, Spain and Netherlands do not have six points from two games. We have defeated two top nations. "Nevertheless, we need a point to be safe in the quarter-finals. So I will not now stand up and cheer. Against Denmark, we have to get everything and be very careful.
"If we fulfill our potential, I [will not] be worried at all. Then, we can defeat the Danes.
"The level we've reached was our aim, our goal. Each opponent wants to defeat us now. It's like Real Madrid. Since each smaller team also wants to beat us, and gets everything out of themselves [to achieve it]. "Germany are like Real Madrid. I like that."
