Mumbai: Touching the right chords was the only dream he had, be it cutting an album with his Band ‘Black’ or getting a break in Bollywood.
But as luck would have it, the latter happened first and today, singer Ankur Sabharwal’s first song Farishta from Anand Rai's Strangers, is racing up the popularity charts. And like every debutant, Ankur now just can’t stop singing praises of his first song.
“Farishta is every rock singers dream song. It is full of energy, full of passion and the lyrics by Salim Bijnori are just awesome. Sachin's composition is fabulous, I loved when I heard it, I loved singing it,” says Ankur.
Exposed to all kinds of music be it hard rock, progressive rock and even Bollywood music, Ankur has been playing to the gallery as a rock musician for quite some time.
And his band mate and music director has this to say about the talented singer.
“Ankur was a part of a popular band in Delhi. I use to look up to him as a singer and while jamming up one day and I asked him why don’t we make a band. He liked me as a guitarist, I liked him as a vocalist and we jelled together,” says Sachin Gupta who is music composer of Strangers.
As Bollywood continues knocking on his door, this Delhi boy is willing to juggle between home and the showbiz capital.
“I guess ideally you should be based in Mumbai, as of now I have some priorities in Delhi, so I am going to be based in Delhi,” says Ankur.
And that will only be a just a small step in his journey towards success.
