newindianexpressExpress News Service

HYDERABAD: In a step towards energy conservation in the domestic sector, the Central Power Distribution Company of AP Limited, with the help of C-Quest Capital Malaysia Limited, is offering domestic consumers in Kukatpally, Gachibowli, Champapet and Vikarabad divisions with compact fluorescent lamps (CFLs) under Bachat Lamp Yojana.

Consumers can exchange their old working incandescent bulbs (ICLs)  with long-lasting and high-quality CFLs at just Rs 15 a piece.  The Fused CFLs will have warranty for one year.

Under the Bachat Lamp Yojana being implemented by APCPDCL, domestic consumers can get up to 4 CFLs depending on the old but working ICLs  given by them. Consumers can exchange a 60 W ICL for an 11 W CFL, and a 100 W ICL for an 18 W CFL. Consumers need to give their consent for the exchange under BLY.

A CFL bulb’s life is 10 times longer than a regular bulb’s.

By using CFLs, consumers can save up to 80 percent on electricity bills. CFL’s use also helps in slowing down global warming.
