Tokyo: In Hollywood, they call her the thinking man's sex symbol. At the world premiere of Spider-Man 3 in Tokyo, actress Kirsten Dunst spoke to CNN-IBN Entertainment Editor Rajeev Masand about why fans across the world could relate to the growing-up pains of the web-slinging superhero.
Rajeev Masand: In most superhero films, the leading lady is usually relegated to the backseat. But Mary Jane stands out in every Spider-Man movie.
Kirsten Dunst: Behind every man there is a great lady. Also, Sam Raimi would never want to set an example to the young girls watching this film as Mary Jane just being a handbag.
Rajeev Masand: Why do you think Spider-Man has been such a relatable movie across the world?
Kirsten Dunst: Spider-Man to me has always been a melancholic superhero, always struggling with the powers he has and who he is.
