Ex-foreign secretary Menon made new NSA

New Delhi: Former foreign secretary Shiv Shankar Menon has been appointed as the new National Security Advisor (NSA). Menon replaces MK Narayanan.

Narayanan has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal.

The post of NSA was created in 1998 to oversee the management of national security.

Reports say that Menon is likely to take over the post on Saturday.

Menon brings with him vast experience in the diplomatic field, had played a key role in the negotiations on the historic Indo-US civil nuclear deal.

Menon has also served as the High Commissioner of Pakistan for three years.
