Ex-Haryana DGP SPS Rathore pays Rs 9 lakh for VIP Number

New Delhi: Former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore has paid a whopping Rs 9.05 lakh to buy a VIP registration number plate that reads 0001.

Rathore bought the unique number plate as a gift for his wife Abha who owns a Mercedes. Rathore was convicted in the 1990 Ruchika Girhotra molestation case and it was his wife who fought his case.

The 14-year-old budding tennis player committed suicide in 1993.

Former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore was convicted in the the 1990 Ruchika Girhotra molestation case.

Rathore's wife Abha was his lawyer who was instrumental in getting him bail in the Supreme court in November 2010.
