Chennai: Lok Paritran, the political party floated by former IITians last year, has split.

Three of its seven members resigned, saying that there was favouritism, non-transparency and casteism within the organisation.

The party has managed to make some impact in the Tamil Nadu Assembly polls this year, polling over 34,000 votes.

Speaking to reporters, K Rajamani, P Elanthirumaran and Shri Ishrayel Maheswar accused the party leadership of double standards and dictatorship.

Lok Paritran's ideologies were only on paper and not followed within the party, Rajamani said.

"They appear to be caste-oriented. There was no transparency, participative management and democratic norms," he said.

Elanthirumaran said they would float a new political outfit and would make sure it implements all the ideologies envisaged by Lok Paritran.
