Ex-NSA asks BJP, Cong to come together

CNN-IBN

New Delhi: Former national security advisor Brijesh Mishra says local law enforcement be able to tackle terror attacks better only if intelligence inputs are more specific.

Mishra also condemned the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party for trying to extract political mileage from the Mumbai terror attacks.

"Educate the public to accept restrictions because this is war. There is no specific intelligence. The intelligence machinery is used for political purpose and it’s symbiotic. Most of the states in the country are governed by either the BJP or its allies or the Congress party and its allies. Now if these two major parties can get together on the basis of national interest, not petty electoral politics then I think half of your problem is solved." he said.

Pakistan-trained terrorists had attacked major landmarks of Mumbai on Wednesday and taken hostages at the Taj Hotel, Oberoi Hotel and Nariman House.

Security forces killed nine terrorists and arrested one in the counter-terror operations that lasted for nearly 60 hours.

At least 193 people died and over 300 were injured in the coordinated attacks by the 10 terrorists.
