Explosives found near Khurja railway track

Khurja (Uttar Pradesh): Explosives found near the railway track minutes before the Rajdhani Express passed Khurja has shocked the railway authorities, but the UP police is trying to hush up the matter.

The tracks are busy with over a dozen important trains like the Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Brahmaputra Express passing through the day.

On Sunday morning, a keyman Sardar Singh found some explosives lying between the tracks, 4 km from Khurja junction, and trying to remove the explosives, Singh injured himself.

"The explosive was made of aluminium and had a wire fitted in it. The authorities are aware of this for they saw the explosive," says railway supervisor Malkhan Singh.

The police, however, are yet to comprehend the magnitude of the threat and are trying to hush up the matter.

"We are enquiring into the matter as it has been in writing by the railway department and nothing has been recovered from that place. It was just a rumour. Nothing else." says DYSP Khurja, K C Sharma.

In the past, Mumbai and Delhi police have conducted several raids in Khurja in connection with the serial blasts in Mumbai and the attack on Akshradham Temple. In the last five years, more then 10 persons having terrorist links have been arrested from Khurja and 15 kg of RDX was recovered from a brick klin.

But despite the grim indicators of a deeper conspiracy or sabotage, the UP police is trying to hush up the incident.
