Ex-Punjab CM's grandson hits 4 with car

New Delhi: Four labourers were injured in Delhi on Sunday when a speeding BMW car allegedly driven by the grandson of a former Punjab chief minister hit them.

The labourers were replacing the rear tyre of a truck when Gurmeet Singh hit them with his car at around 0400 hrs IST on the Ring Road in southwest Delhi, said police. Gurmeet is the grandson of Darbara Singh, who was Punjab Chief Minister from June 6, 1980 to October 10, 1983.

The injured are being treated at the Safdarjung Hospital. One of the injured men is in a critical condition. A case has been registered against Gurmeet in the Sarojni Nagar police station and he has been taken into custody, police said.
