With leadership issues settled, it is time to focus on the task ahead which is poll preparations in election bound states and organisational reforms within the party as the first primary step.
"Since the government has not been able to introduce the women reservation bill, we have decided to start reforms within the party,” says BJP leader, Sushma Swaraj.
The year 2008 will be a crucial year in the country politics, with 10 states going to polls and both congress and BJP are going all out to woo the masses for votes.
As for the election preparations, it is clear that the saffron brigade is pushing for a modified hindutva agenda. Afzal, minority appeasement and the Ram Sethu controversy have replaced Ayodhya, Kashmir and uniform civil code.
"Communal budgeting will encourage conversion," says CM, Gujarat, Narendra Modi.
It is for the first time that the party council is meeting with LK Advani at the helm of affairs and what is surprising is the absence of former prime minister, Atal Bihari Vajpayee. It seems that the BJP has now settled its inner turmoil and is going to the polls as a cohesive unit.
