New Delhi: The crime branch of the Delhi Police has sent notices to all the four MPs named in the fake passport case asking them to appear for questioning before Monday.
CNN-IBN had first exposed former BJP MP Babubhai Katara in the scam that also allegedly involved human trafficking.
The MPs are: BJP's Ramswarup Koli and BSP's Mohammad Tahir Khan, Ashok Kumar Rawat and Mitrasen Yadav.
Initially the four MPs had not replied to the notices that were issued to them on April 23, citing UP Assembly polls as a reason for their non-compliance.
A BJP MP and two BSP MPs communicated to the police about their inability to come over to Delhi for questioning but the fourth one, also belonging to BSP, has not replied to the notice so far.
The police issued notices to them after their names cropped up during the interrogation of Sunder Lal Yadav, an alleged conduit in the high profile case.
Sunder Lal Yadav, a travel agent, Rajendra Kumar Gampa and their female accomplice Kiran Dhar, revealed in a city court last month that Khan and Koli were the central figures in the racket of smuggling people abroad on diplomatic passports of MPs' family members or forged documents
Police decided to grill the four MPs after going through the travel details provided by the Foreign Residents Registration Office.
