Families meet up, discuss parenting and child issues

Noida: Children's Day is on Friday perhaps a good time to reflect on your kid's future.

Group of families in Noida get together for a party but this isn't just another weekend party in There's a serious agenda- Raising children. That's what these families discussed when they meet once a month since last year. The critical question -- How to be better parents?

“The main objective was to learn from each other as a community we share information on parenting and child care,” says a parent and founder Gaurav Malhotra.

All the families have children under the age of 10 -- and the hot topics of discussion here have to do with health, school and behavioural issues. While one parent logs on to the internet to share tips he found interesting, others read out articles from magazines on parenting. So do these meetings really help the kids?

“My kid is having a lot more fun now we wish we had joined earlier helping me as a parent,” says a parent Rasika.

Gaurav now wants to include more children and parents in this group. There are also plans to start a website and arrange holiday tours. This means information along with loads of fun.

What started with one family today has over 70 families in its fold. And what all of these families believe is that sometimes the best person to give you information on parenting is simply another parent.
