New Delhi: In a gruesome incident, a family of five committed suicide in the Mulund suburb of Mumbai late Tuesday night.
Thirty-nine-year-old Babu Tewar and his 33-year-old wife Amothi poisoned their three children, Venkatesh, Mani and Mahalakshmi, all below the age of ten and then hanged themselves from the ceiling fans in their flat.
The incident happened around 10:30 pm on Tuesday night at Link apartments in Mulund.
Tewar’s relative says, “We do not know why he did this.”
Police say Tewar, a Telugu film distributor, was suffering from a serious illness and did not want his family to suffer after him and hence the extreme step.
