Pune: The UK police have handed over Indian student Anuj Bidve's body to the Indian high commission and the Bidve family will fly to London on Wednesday to bring back Anuj's body.

Chief Superintendant, Manchester Police Russ Jackson said, "Our role has been to meet the family to explain about the case so far and of course to go through the last moments of Anuj's life."

"We met with Anuj's family last night for several hours and were able to fill in some of the gaps in understanding of the events leading up to Anuj's tragic death," Jackson added.

After a two-hour-long meeting on Monday, Anuj's family had two more discussions with the visiting Manchester police officials on Tuesday. The family demanded an expeditious repatriation of Anuj's body.

Anuj's Cousin Suruchi Wagh said, "We will be leaving for UK soon to get Anuj’s body back."

While the police claim that the 23-year-old micro-electronics student was killed in a motiveless assault, the family is questioning if they will ever learn why Anuj lost his life in so casual a manner.
