New Delhi: Angry family members of Mohammad Mukarram want an investigation into the incident in which the 20-year-old Bangalore was shot dead by Army guards after he entered house of a brigadier early on Sunday morning.
The Indian Army has already announced an enquiring into incident.
A day after he was shot dead in Bangalore by army guards after he trespassed into an army camp, angry family members of Mukarram went to the Ulsoor police station seeking an investigation.
Mukarram was drag racing on the MG Road and had fled when a police team came to the area. He then entered into the house of a army brigadier.
"Is this jungle raj or what? How can they shoot down a college student like this? We are asking the police for justice," Mukarram's uncle Abdul Rahim Khan demanded.
And for Mukarram, who was a student of Baldwin Methodist's College, it was a night of revelry which ended in tragedy.
Drag racing though illegal in the city is a big hit among the youth. After Mukarram's incident, the Police Commissioner wants youngsters in the city to keep off from drag racing.
"Please don't do adventures in Bangalore city. Speed-racing, drag-racing is dangerous not only for others and others' vehicles, but also for persons indulging in it," said Shankar Bidari, Police Commissioner.
And many parents and youngsters too have the same view.
"Parents should be responsible of what the children should do. Drag racing is dangerous and its upto them to ensure that their children should not do things like this," said a parent.
"It's the fault of Mukarram. You simply can't land on the roof of a brigadier at 2 am (0200 hrs IST) and expect nothing to happen?" a college-going student added.
Performing stunts at top speed on the bike may give one an adrenaline rush but in these times of terror, youngsters too need to exercise restraint before choosing to flirt with the law.
