Mumbai: Filmmaker Madhur Bhandarkar's latest release Fashion which is based on the fashion industry hit theatres on Wednesday. People from the fashion fraternity who've watched the film, shared their views on the film.
Fashion designer Shaina NC has been a part of the fashion fraternity for 18 years. She shared her views on the film right after watching it.
"To tell you quite frankly I thought the film was extremely entertaining because at the end of the day the director wasn't trying to show a documentary, he was trying to showcase something that appealed to real life. But I would like to say that not everything is not evil, grim or what you would see in the film," said the designer.
"The film has an Indian touch, a realistic touch. But I feel everyone does not have to be a gay or a lesbian or make a sensational statement or be a dramatic personality in the industry, as there are a lot of normal people in the industry too," she added.
Some prominent names in the currents Indian modelling also shared their views on the film.
"Whatever the filmmaker has shown in the movie is the truth. But of course there is also an entertainment value to it. I feel the film is going to influence the fashion industry in a positive way," said model Urvashi Sharma.
"What the movie showcases about fashion designers is true, but there are some elements that were missing. Overall the movie is good and it's going to do well and people will know more about the fashion industry," said model Harrisson.
Another model Sucheta Sharma relates to Priyanka's character and has also appreciated the movie.
"I related a lot to Priyanka's character as she is from a middles class family and from a small town and so am I. But, the part when she compromised is when it ended for me as I can proudly say I have come up without it. And I think that could have been avoided," she said.
Surely Bhandarkar's Fashion has got a thumbs up from these representatives of the fashion industry. However, what the general public thinks of the film is yet to be seen.
