New Delhi: A father and his daughter were found dead at their home on Saturday morning. Police suspect it could be a case of murder.
However neighbours say Karanjit Singh committed suicide after shooting his 18-year-old daughter Poonam, who has been paralyzed for the last few years.
The pistol used has not been recovered so far. Karanjit Singh, who runs a poultry business, was said to be upset that his eldest daughter married against his wishes.
The incident took place at their residence in Sector 23.
Karamjit Singh, who was in his mid-50s, owned Kasauli Broilers, a meat products shop in Chandigarh's busy Sector 22 market, which was doing quite well.
Family members told the police that Karamjit was depressed over the last few days since his elder daughter was paralysed and his younger daughter had eloped earlier this month.
Additional Superintendent of Police Madhur Verma said the police were investigating the matter.
