Father of Pak's N-programme hopes for release

New Delhi: The founding father of Pakistan's atomic weapons program - A Q Khan hopes that he will be released from house arrest by the new government.

Speaking in an interview published by a Pakistani newspaper he said he hopes that the new democratic government would lift all restrictions on his movements.

His family however says they have not been approached by any government official so far.

Khan was pardoned for selling nuclear technology to several countries but was put under indefinite house arrest by Musharraf.

PML (N) chief Nawaz Sharif under whose rule Pakistan conducted nuclear tests, has been critical of Musharraf's decision to put him under House arrest.
