Fearing rains, not insecurity: Dravid

Colombo: Tight security cordon, with incessant rain mar the atmosphere for the gentleman's game, but Team India is willing to carry on and now looks forward to a three-match face-off with Sri Lanka.

Citing security reasons, South Africa have pulled out of the Unitech Cup tri-series in Colombo on Wednesday.

"It's sad. All that I can say that it’s sad. It is unfortunate that the series had to be called off. We were happy and confident to look forward to play in Sri Lanka. I think we always don't live in a perfect world," says captain Rahul Dravid in reaction to pull out of South African team.

Safety is a concept as personal to an individual as it can be and South Africa did what they thought best in such a situation.

But for Dravid and his boys, it was a great opportunity to put the Carribean debacle behind them. Instead, the Island's terror trail caught up, causing the tri-series to be called off.

"The only thing we are actually worried of is the weather. And the forecast is not great and we are actually hoping that the weather holds out and we can have at least three good games of cricket. I never had any player of my team ever come to me and say we don’t want to play in this series. I think all the guys are very keen and very conscious of playing what their responsibilities are," says Rahul Dravid.

As international cricket's roster doesn't have an off day, the Asian neighbours, India and Sri Lanka, will battle it out at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground.
