Cuddalore (Tamil Nadu): Roger Federer has won most of the major titles in men's tennis.
And on Friday the world No 1 tennis player won many new fans in India when he met some tsunami-affected children in Tamil Nadu's Cuddalore.
Federer is on a three-day visit as UNICEF's Goodwill Ambassador to look at the relief programmes on the second anniversary of the deadly December 26, 2004, tsunami.
The tsunami had killed nearly 18,000 people in India with 8,000 of those dying in Tamil Nadu alone.
He has been involved in several fund-raising initiatives including the ATP All-Star Rally for Relief, a unique exhibition tournament with proceeds benefiting UNICEF's Tsunami-relief programme.
The world No 1 will also be visiting permanent housing shelters in neighbouring villages before leaving on Sunday.
"I have tried my best, I have tried to help as much as i could. Seeing all this in person is so much more different than to hear it or see it in pictures. I see very happy faces among the kids and also the older people. I wish all of them very best," Federer said after his visit.
