Female reporter assaulted in the capital

New Delhi: Attacks on women in the capital continue, as a female reporter working with a private TV news channel was assaulted by two motor cycle borne youths. Police have registered a case and are investigating the matter.

22-year-old Payal singh a journalist who has covered several molestation and eve-teasing cases in Delhi has now become a victim herself.

On Monday night, Payal was waiting at the bus stand near Videocon tower in Jhandewalan when two motorcycle borne youths attacked her with their helmet. She has been admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital.

An eyewitness Dheeraj said " She was badly injured, there are bruises on her head and she was bleeding, her blood is still there on my shirt, I immediately brought her to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital and admitted her to emergency."

Police is promising swift action against the culprits.

Jt.Commissioner, Northern range, Ajay Kashyap said " I have seen the medical documents with us, although I don't think its a very serious injury but the nature of the incident is serious no doubt.

But luckily the injury which she has suffered is not very serious. I hope she will be able to talk to us within a couple of hours. We have got some initial information, we are trying to work out a little bit more, as soon as we make some headway, we will let the Press know."

Though the reporter is out of danger, the incident once again shows how unsafe Delhi is becoming for women.
