Feroz Khan, Bollywood's king of style

New Delhi: Born on September 25 1939 in Bangalore, Feroz Khan became one of Bollywood's most stylish and flamboyant actors in a career spanning over four decades.

The Pathan moved to Mumbai and made his debut as a second lead in Didi in 1960, but it wasn't until his first hit Oonche Log in 1965 that Feroz got noticed.

The actor continued to play a the second lead in films like Aarzoo, Safar, Raat aur Din and won a Filmfare for Best Supporting Actor for Aadmi Aur Insaan.

Feroz Khan launched his own production company FK International and turned director with the stylish cops and robbers tale Apradh in 1972. But it was his remake of The Godfather - the superhit Dharamatma in 1975 which gave a shot in the arm to this producer, director and actor.

While Dharamatma reflected Feroz's flamboyant style, it was Qurbani which established Feroz Khan as Bollywood's most suave and stylish actor filmmaker.

Through the 80s Feroz Khan acted, directed and produced several successful films including Janbaaz and Dayavan a remake of Mani Ratnam's Nayakan.

Palatial houses, exotic foreign locales, horse races, imported cars, macho men and sensuous women were a regular feature in most of his films.

With the 90s Feroz Khan somewhat became a part of Bollywood's old order. His stylized, larger-than-life tales of crime and deceit didn't find many takers.

The actor filmmaker also tried to launch his son Fardeen Khan with Prem Aggan- the film failed at the box office.

His second attempt in 2003 Janasheen with Fardeen and Celina Jaitley too met with the same fate.

Though Feroz Khan stopped producing and directing films, he made a special appearance alongside his son Fardeen in Ek Khiladi Ek Haseena and was last seen as the outlandish mobster RDX in Akshay Kumar starrer in Welcome in 2007.
