New Delhi: Following a three-week break, the Formula One Championship resumes again this Sunday with the Turkish Grand Prix. The tricky Turkish track could be the toughest test yet for the two giants of F1—Ferrari and Renault.
If Ferrari wish to halt McLaren's current dominance of the Formula One season, time is running out for them.
With just six races left in 2007 beginning with this weekend's Turkish Grand Prix, Ferrari are 19 points behind the leading team and Kimi Raikkonen is 20 points behind McLaren's leading driver—Lewis Hamilton.
But the team remain optimistic they can achieve something on a track where they secured a victory last year.
Ferrari Sporting Director Stefano Domenicali says, "I would say that (our) expectations for this third edition of the Turkish Grand Prix are quite good and positive. I have to say that the characteristics of our cars match with the track of Istanbul, so I would say it should be alright.
Renault on the other hand have had an okay season so far, but not a spectacular one. Driver Giancarlo Fisichella currently stands 7th in the drivers' standings while his team lies fourth.
Fisichella had earlier entertained the crowds in South Africa with a special roadshow, where all the skills of GP racing were displayed. He is confident he will do well.
"The Istanbul track is a nice circuit and it is one of my favourite ones, a new generation circuit. In the past I did well and I am sure it is going to be all right there," Fisichella says.
Watch out for this racy weekend in Istanbul on Sunday.
