“I am scared but I will still not miss it for anything,” Purvi said.
Meanwhile, her brother Arpit is more cautious than Purvi. “We are scared and we need to be careful. Any suspicious object should be reported to the police immediately,” he said.
Elsewhere, in Ahmedabad which is recovering from the serial blasts of July 26, garba enthusiasts have mixed feelings.
“Enthusiasm is not less but yes, precaution has to be taken,” a garba enthusiast said.
The police though are taking no chances. For the first time police personnel – both men and women – will be dressed in plain clothes and even traditional attire to mingle with the crowd at garba venues.
“All participants at these events wear traditional clothes so it is best that we dress like them so that we go unnoticed,” Joint Commissioner of Police, Special Branch, PB Gondia said.
The city is rattled by the bomb blast but putting fear aside they want to get in the Navratri mood.
