New Delhi: Filing an RTI application will be just a phone call away. From April 2009, all you will need to do is dial a number and place your request from an MTNL phone and it will cost you only Rs 10, which will be added to your monthly phone bill.
Phone requests will be handled by a national call centre.
This initiative has been jointly undertaken by Ministry of Information Technology and a NGO called Kabir.
There will be also an RTI portal which will enable applicants to enquire about the status of their query.
A regional call centre has already been in operation in Bihar and officials report it has been successful.
