Mumbai: The Seven Islands International Film Festival will see screening of 36 films that talk about peace over four days.
A festival with a mission, this is one film festival that does not boast of glitz and glamour. Rather it prides itself on propagating peace, non-violent resistance and global disarmament.
The festival is known as Seven Islands for the islands that make the city of Mumbai. The festival will screen documentaries from 10 countries, including USA, Croatia, Austria, Israel among others.
"The main aim of the festival is to show people the module, which is successful and can give inspiration for non-violence resistance," says Bankim Kapadia, organiser of Seven Islands Film festival.
At the festival, actor A K Hangal received a standing ovataion for the Padma Bhushan Award that has been conferred on him this year. But the actor felt the award came a tad too late.
"I'm thnakful to the committee, but it's come too late. Everybody says that. But when I get an award, I should be able to enjoy it," said Hangal.
The festival will come to close on January 30, on the 58th death anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the original messenger of non-violence.
