Hyderabad: A stuntman who was doubling for Telugu film actor Ravi Teja drowned while performing a fight scene for a film in Rajamundry.
Mahendra Sharma, 20, and another stuntman doubling for the unnamed film’s villain jumped into the Godavri River as part of the fight scene on Saturday. Sharma drowned.
" We were both going to drown but someone helped me out of the water before I drowned but Mahendra died," says Ramana, the stuntman who survived.
Mahendra’s body was found on Sunday night. He was a regular body double for Teja and a seasoned stuntman.
The North Andhra Association of Junior Artistes will provide Mahendra’s family with an insurance amount of over Rs 1 lakh. Mahendra’s family says negotiating they are negotiating with the director of the film, Uday Bhaskar, for a compensation of Rs 5 lakh.
