Thiruvanthapuram/Thrissur: For photojournalists and cameramen working in the media, Kazhchappadam is an "autobiography" of sorts.
A rare tribute to the men and women who bring out the best in imagery, Kazhchappadam is a documentary made by a group of cameramen in Kerala and pans the many hardships they face.
So what really inspired the makers to come out with the first-of-its-kind documentary?
“Whenever the viewer sees the visuals he does not think about the cameraman neither the hardships he has to go through,” says director of Kazhchappadam, P P Salim.
Images of some the greatest human tragedies in Kerala have been used in the documentary.
“Whenever there is a breaking story, it is the cameraman who first jumps into the thick of things. He does not even care about his personal safety trying to get that most appealing visuals at the earliest. We hope the documentary will call for people's attention to all this,” says film critic, I Shanmughadas.
The film also pays tribute to those who lost their lives trying to get those images that have been immortalised and have made India stop and think.
